This interactive discussion will explore how urban innovation challenges can promote climate action around the world. It will showcase examples from the ongoing Climate Smart Cities Challenge in four cities: Makindye Ssabagabo (Uganda), Bristol (UK), Bogotá (Colombia), and Curitiba (Brazil). These cities have been invited to co-create, together with key stakeholders, a challenge that innovators from around the globe can submit solutions for - ranging from green and affordable homes, net-zero neighbourhoods to urban freight. The winning solutions by innovators will be developed into prototypes and tested through a systems demonstrator. The outcomes will have a significant impact on shaping the cities' responses to climate challenges, enabling communities and innovators to play a key role in designing solutions, and therefore also reinventing the way that local governments innovate.
