The TAPESTRY research project explores how transformation may arise ‘from below’ in marginal environments with high levels of uncertainty. We look at transformative alliances between actors (local communities& NGOs& scientists and state agencies) that are seeking socially just and ecologically sound alternatives based on local people’s plural understandings of what transformation entails. These ‘patches’ or areas of transformation have the potential to grow or merge with others. Our session will focus on the work done by TAPESTRY’s Mumbai Patch. It will consist of a panel discussion whose primary focus is on transformation with relation to mangroves& flooding& and the wellbeing of Mumbai’s coastal communities Links: https://steps-centre.org/blog/mumbais-floods-also-disaster-urban-planning/& https://steps-centre.org/blog/climate-change-transformed-indias-megacities/& https://steps-centre.org/news/new-tapestry-project-on-transformations-from-below-in-uncertain-environments/
