Green and Blue infrastructure are the key essentials in maintaining healthy urban environment. Green infrastructure is the design of gardens, lawns, vegetation, forest, trees, etc. while Blue infrastructure is the design of water bodies such as lakes, rivers, canals, artificial or natural pools. Both of these components are important to balance a well developing urban city. It may also include all artificial/man made, natural and semi natural components around and within the urban areas. These are multi functional environmental systems that interconnect with a network of waterways, wetlands, forests, , farms, conservation and ecological spaces. Research shows that urban environment has greater effect on human health; the characteristics of a sustainable environment must include sufficient green spaces to regulate oxygen in air and maintain temperature, cleanliness and safety, conserved biodiversity, wide range of public services, sustainable and green buildings.
