Bio

Olafiyin Taiwo is a chartered Town Planner with experience of working in public, private and non-profit sectors. She is a Doctoral Researcher at University College London and leads the Commonwealth Association of Planners Young Planners Network as the Convener. She is the Co-chair for the UN-Habitat Planners for Climate Action (Education and Capacity Building) and a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) General Assembly and International Committee. Olafiyin is also the Co-founder of the BAME Planners Network.Olafiyin is committed to improving the quality of life and experiences of communities in resilient and inclusive urban places. She is the co-founder of Life brooks International, a charity dedicated to bringing hope and transforming lives of children and young people in urban communities.She was awarded the RTPI Special Presidential Award 2020/2021 for her contribution to promoting diversity and inclusion in the Planning profession. She was also recently recognised as The Planner Woman of Influence 2021.Olafiyin’s specialisations include Urban Regeneration and Development, Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction and Sustainable Development.
