Bio

Dr. Metson is a sustainable natural resource scientist working as an Associate Professor at Linköping University in Sweden. She completed her PhD at McGill University, Canada and has also studied and worked in the USA and Australia. Her research uses a mix of natural and social science methods to tackle food and water security at multiple scales with a particular interest for the role of cities. Most notably, her research has dealt with explicitly considering socio-ecological system context and how it affects transitioning to more sustainable nutrient cycling for urban food systems. Her current work focuses on four areas: The logistics of recycling organic waste back to agricultural lands now and under diverse future scenarios The role of urban agriculture in food, water, and urban system sustainability The impact of consumption choices on of phosphorus cycling and sustainability Social-ecological-technological context(s) of decision making around sustainable sanitation options
