Bio

Gabriela Uchoa is an urban planner with over 10 years experience in the intersection of urban planning, climate resilience, and local governments. Currently, she is the UN-Habitat/Government of Brazil Cooperation Director for implementing the Urban Resilience Programme in Brazilian Cities. After working for local and regional governments in different Brazilian cities, she has accumulated experience in implementing complex projects within the sub-national level, understanding the complexity of the cities' mandate, especially in development contexts. In the public sector, she has led the implementation of several projects in partnership with international institutions for sustainable development. In her former role as Head of Agenda 2030 at the Municipality of Teresina, she was awarded the 'Cities for People' prize by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). She is an Open Government Fellow at the Organization of American States (OAS), and holds Masters degrees in Smart Cities & Urban Analytics by the University College London, and in International Relations by the Universitat de Barcelona.
