Dr. Himanshu Shekhar
Leads the climate academy programme @ UNU-EHS - PNOC
Dr. Himanshu Shekhar from United Nations University - Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS), Bonn, Germany is deeply passionate about making human settlements sustainable. His work primarily focuses on two domains; first the nexus between urbanization and climate change adaptation and second, science-policy interface for providing specific scientific inputs into UN policy making processes. He leads the climate academy programme on ‘participatory pathways to climate action’ at UNU-EHS. He is a task team member of UN High Level Committee of Programmes for on sustainable urbanization. His work focuses on transformative urbanization, cascading climate risks, application of digitalization in climate change adaptation and exploring wellbeing in human settlements as well.He holds a doctorate in urban planning from Germany and masters in Regional Development Planning and Management from Germany and Chile. His bachelor education in Spatial Planning is from India. Dr. Shekhar has published and presented his research and policy works in leading journals and at global platforms. He is the managing editor of special issue on World Risk and Adaptation Futures at the Journal of Integrative Environmental Sciences and is a member of the emerging scholar forum of the Global Perspectives Journal.
