Head of Department for Climate Protection - City of Mannheim (Germany)
Agnes Schönfelder has worked in public administration at municipal and state level for more than 20 years, since 2009 as Head of the Climate Change Strategy Office of the City of Mannheim and since 2019 as Managing Director of the Climate Action Agency Mannheim in a dual function. With the qualities of a climate and environmental expert as well as in coordination, communication and project management, her main task is the development of integrated strategies towards a climate neutral and sustainable city. She is an expert in peer-to-peer exchange and large-scale networking in capacity building processes for the transfer of good practice not only within the city, but also at European and international level. She is passionate about communication and participation strategies and creative actions and campaigns. Since 2021, Agnes Schönfelder is the Spokesperson of the Pilot City Office Local Green Deal Mannheim and Policy Advisor for the Deputy Mayor for Environment and Climate.She regularly represents the City of Mannheim on climate issues in several networks, such as ICLEI, EUROCITIES, Climate Alliance, Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy.
