Innovate4Cities 2021 Conference
UN-Habitat and the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) invite you to be part of the global Innovate4Cities 2021 climate change conference. Also known as the I4C conference, Innovate4Cities 2021 is a virtual global and regional event that brings together cities, innovation, climate change, science, policy and practice united by a common objective: enabling cities to take accelerated and more ambitious climate action.
Goals & Objectives
The conference programme will be built around the core themes of the Global Research and Action Agenda on Cities and Climate Change Science (GRAA) developed at the 2018 Cities and Climate Change Science Conference, Edmonton Canada. There have been many developments in the urban sustainability agenda since Edmonton, in particular, COVID-19 has transformed cities, widening existing inequalities, plunging new actors into financial hardship, and exposing new vulnerabilities.
Reviewing and addressing the research gaps identified by the Global Research and Action Agenda in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, emerging green recovery strategies, and the need to localise climate finance.
Showcasing innovative practices and solutions developed by city authorities, civil society, and other stakeholders across sectors, that help bridge the gap between climate ambition and results.
Strengthening the focus on urban and regional impact in the IPCC and UNFCCC process- especially at COP 26 and in the IPCC AR7 cycle through inputs on highlighted climate change urban adaptation.
